What is the main storyline of the Diablo games?

Blizzard is one of the hottest names in the gaming world. Blizzard Entertainment gave the planet the runaway success game Warcraft. Diablo is a similar fantasy game that revolves around a hero out to save the world.
The hero has to battle monsters, demons straight from hell, and undead evil entities... before taking on the three Prime Evils. The three Prime Evils are the ultimate evil. They come straight from Hell and form the horrible trio of Baal, Mephisto, and the Lord of Terror Diablo himself!

Most gamers would tell you that Diablo 1 and 2 were the most popular games ever made in the fantasy genre. No wonder expectations for the third edition in the series is very high. Gamers are excited about all the new aspects of the third edition which is billed to be the most difficult to master of all the editions of the Diablo game.

Fighting, real-time action, and RPGs are what make the Diablo games so exciting. The setting is technically described as the type classified by gamers as 'dungeon roaming'. The fighting is that of the “hack and slash” category. The gamer has to cross several levels of increasing difficulty and 'save the world'. The dark, deep, and dangerous world of Diablo swarms with demonic beings of all kind.

Diablo 1 was released in 1997. Gamers say the first edition of Diablo inspired several other role-playing games. It had character classes like warrior (sword fighter), a rogue (archer), and a sorcerer progressing through dungeon levels up to 16. The hero eventually traps Diablo in Soulstone.

Diablo 2 was out in 2000 and picks up the story from where the first edition left off. The imprisoned Diablo enters the body of the hero of the first edition of the game! Once again the gamer has to hunt down Diablo and save the world. There were two additional evil beings in the second edition - Mephisto and Baal. Diablo II sold several million copies taking the gaming world by storm.

Diablo 3 trailers and official statements show that this edition is going to break all records.
